The launch of the first round of student union elections at the faculties of Matrouh University
Dr. Mustafa Al-Najjar, President of Matrouh University, said that the first round of student union elections for the academic year 2024/2025 began today, Sunday, to select members of the student union councils in the university’s colleges.
Al-Najjar stressed that the university is taking all measures to ensure that the electoral process proceeds in complete transparency and impartiality, while providing the appropriate atmosphere for all students to cast their votes, to choose who represents them in the colleges’ student union councils. He also directed the necessity of adhering to election dates according to the announced schedule, approved by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
He added that the electoral process will continue until November 28, when it will end with the election of the committee secretaries and their assistants, and the president of the union and his deputy at the university level, noting that the committees supervising the electoral process in the university colleges have not received any appeals from students against their fellow candidates to run in the elections.
It is noteworthy that the procedures of the electoral process, in all its stages, are carried out according to the timetable approved by Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as the door for nominations and withdrawal and submission of forms was opened on Thursday, the 14th of November, and the preliminary lists were announced on Sunday, the 17th of November, and applications were received. Appeals on Monday, November 18, and examination of appeals on Tuesday, November 19. The final lists were announced on Wednesday, November 20. Election propaganda began on Thursday, November 21, and the first round elections in colleges and sorting will be held. The results will be announced today, Sunday, November 24, while the run-off round will be held on Monday, November 25. Elections for committee secretaries and their assistants will be held at the college level on Tuesday, November 26, and elections for the union president and his deputy will be held at the college level on Wednesday, November 27. The marathon of student union elections will end with the election of committee secretaries and their assistants. The President of the University Union and his deputy on Thursday, November 28.
