The head of the Drug Authority witnesses the signing of a cooperation protocol between two companies to implement the drug tracking project

Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Medicine Authority, witnessed today the signing of a cooperation protocol between two companies, regarding the drug tracking project and its importance in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medicines in Egypt, in the presence of Engineer Hatem Qandil, CEO of the Digital Solutions Company, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Qala, The CEO of the company, and a number of leaders of the authority and the two companies.

The protocol comes as part of the executive steps to continue tightening control over the drug market and confront the challenges facing the health sector, including combating counterfeit and non-conforming medicines, and reducing illicit circulation. For medicines by implementing a drug tracking system, and ensuring that the medicines available in the markets are of high quality and approved, ensuring proper circulation and identifying drug needs within an integrated system.

The signing of the protocol was witnessed by Dr. Ahmed Afifi, Executive Director of the Medical Investments Company, and Dr. Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, Advisor Dr. Mohamed Al-Demerdash, Vice President of the State Council and Legal Advisor to the Egyptian Medicines Authority, Dr. Rasha Ziadeh, Assistant President of the Egyptian Medicines Authority for Technical and Capacity Development Affairs, Dr. Yassin Rajai, Assistant Chairman of the Egyptian Medicines Authority for Media Affairs and Investment Support, Dr. Osama Hatem, Assistant Chairman of the Egyptian Medicine Authority for Policy Affairs and International Cooperation, and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Support, Eng. Mohamed Tantawi, Supervisor of Digital Transformation and Mechanization Projects at the Egyptian Medicine Authority.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Egyptian Medicine Authority praised Egyptian, by signing a cooperation protocol between the two companies, related to launching the Egyptian pharmaceutical traceability project, under the auspices of the Egyptian Medicines Authority.

He stressed that the project represents a strategic step aimed at implementing an integrated system to track all pharmaceutical packages from the moment of their production until their arrival. For the patient, which enhances the transparency and security of the Egyptian drug system, and that the drug tracking system will rely on unique serial numbers for each package, which allows it to be followed accurately from the moment of production, through the shipping and distribution processes, and even its retrieval if necessary, and that it will rely on programs Compatible with international standards, so that the Egyptian Drug Authority can implement unprecedented control rules, as the drug tracking system will enable us to determine the location of any product in the smallest villages and the most remote governorates, as well as make it possible to follow the life cycle of the product from the raw materials to the final product, which is what It enhances our ability to monitor the market accurately.

He added that the project has a positive impact on protecting the health of citizens and ensuring the safety of pharmaceutical products by preventing tampering in the pharmaceutical supply chain. It will help combat monopoly and smuggling, and manage pharmaceutical stocks strategically. While ensuring the continuous availability of medicines, it contributes to helping monitor the spread of diseases and take quick and effective measures.

At the end of his speech, he thanked all the partners supporting the important national project, and invited everyone to work together to achieve the goals of the project, which will make a difference. Quality in the capabilities of the Egyptian medicine system.

This comes within the framework of the Egyptian Medicine Authority’s keenness to enhance cooperation with various international companies, and exchange experiences to support the safety of medicines and ensure their safe and effective access to Egyptian citizens, in a way that achieves the interest of the citizen and public health in Egypt.
