‘The Girl From Plainville’ Co-Creator Liz Hannah Inks Overall Deal With Sony Pictures Television
EXCLUSIVE: Emmy-nominated writer-producer-director Liz Hannah is getting into business with Sony Pictures Television. Hannah has signed a multi-year overall deal with the studio, under which she will create, develop, and produce scripted drama and comedy series for cable and streaming under her shingle Happy Friday Productions. Will DeCamp serves as Vice President of development for Happy Friday.
Hannah recently served as executive producer, co-showrunner and director on Hulu’s The Girl From Plainvillereceiving a Hollywood Critics Association award nomination for Best Directing for her episode titled “Talking is Healing.” The Critics Choice Award-winning series also was nominated for numerous awards, including the Emmy for Best Limited Series. She is also a WGA Award nominee for her work on David Fincher’s Mindhunterfor which she was a writer and producer.

Hannah also is a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominee and WGA Award winner for her screenplay The Post, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actress for Streep.
Most recently, Hannah wrote, and executive produced the feature film Leestarring Kate Winslet as Lee Miller, a photojournalist during World War II. Other writing credits include Lionsgate’s Long Shot and Netflix’s All The Bright Places, the latter of which she also executive produced.
“I am thrilled to be reuniting with Katherine Pope and making a new home for Happy Friday at Sony,” said Hannah. “Katherine, Lauren, Andrew, Ali, Colin, and Kate, alongside the entire SPTV team, make some of my favorite shows and work with some of my favorite people – what could be better than that?”
