For his part, Jalal Arif, former head of the Journalists Syndicate and former head of the Supreme Press Council, said that freedom of the press and the independence of the union are twin brothers, and that the unity of journalists is the sacred bond that has no alternative to preserving it. Dr. Wahid Abdel Majeed, Secretary-General of the Sixth General Conference of the Journalists Syndicate, confirmed: The conference comes at an important historical moment for journalism and journalists, especially in light of the economic, administrative and legislative challenges facing the profession.
He indicated that the conference will discuss a group of important issues in 19 sessions and round tables, in which more than a hundred will participate. For his part, the Secretary-General of the International Federation of Journalists praised Anthony Bellangi announced that the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate will join the Union in 2023, saying, “It is one of the largest member unions in the Union in Africa and the Middle East.” Bellange added, “The region is witnessing major transformations, and the Union must be present during them to support journalists in these circumstances, and that Palestinian journalists were killed by the Israeli occupation over the course of an entire year, without any intervention from the international community.”

The conference witnesses the presence of a large number of prominent figures from the journalistic and media community, both from inside Egypt and from abroad, as representatives of the International Federation of Journalists are expected to attend. And the Union of Arab Journalists, and a delegation from the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate is also present, in addition to the heads of the boards of directors and editors of newspapers, journalist writers, and academics specializing in the field of media and journalism.
