Today, Burj Al Arab International Airport began a new phase by launching the trial operation of the first environmentally friendly building. To become an advanced model that combines modern technology and environmental sustainability. Where the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Airports Company, Pilot Wael El Nashar, made a field visit to Borg El Arab International Airport. To follow up on the process of transferring airline traffic from the old building to the new building.

The new building at Borg El Arab Airport is the first of its kind in Africa, as it was designed to be a "green airport" According to the highest standards of environmental sustainability; Which contributes to reducing carbon emissions and achieving efficiency in the use of energy and water.

 

The new building was designed with an area of ​​​​40 thousand square meters and accommodates 4.8 million passengers annually. Which raises the total capacity of the airport to 6 million passengers annually. The building relies on environmentally friendly technologies, where energy is generated from solar panels, and the use of energy-saving air conditioning systems using the VRV system. Which reduces carbon emissions and ensures an upscale experience for travelers.

 

The company’s president praised the efforts of the work teams that are making every effort to ensure a smooth and orderly transition, noting that this project represents a qualitative leap. In improving the services provided to travelers and supports sustainability in the sector, adding that this development is part of the Egyptian Airports Company’s vision to provide a more sustainable environment; In line with the latest global trends in the aviation sector.

 

This step comes within the framework of strengthening the position of Burj Al Arab International Airport as one of the leading airports in the region. In line with the vision of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to develop infrastructure and achieve high levels of quality to make Borg El Arab International Airport a major regional aviation hub, and an example of the Egyptian ambition to transition to a sustainable green future in the aviation sector.
