Terri Miller and Andrew Marlowe, who developed the Queen Latifah-led reboot of “The Equalizer” and served as showrunners for its first two seasons, have signed with Independent Artist Group.
Miller and Marlowe produced “The Equalizer,” which returns for its fifth season on Oct. 20, via their MilMar Pictures banner. The series’ 2021 premiere episode, which launched after the Super Bowl, reached more than 20 million viewers.
Prior to reviving that franchise, Miller and Marlowe created the crime dramedy “Take Two.” The show starred Rachel Bilson, a former star of a hip cop series who realizes that her acting abilities make her a skilled detective. The show premiered on ABC in the U.S. and ran for one season.
The pair also worked together on ABC’s long-running crime drama “Castle,” for which Marlowe served as creator and showrunner and Miller as executive producer. Running for eight seasons, “Castle” starred Nathan Fillion as the bestselling mystery novelist Richard Castle and Stana Katic as homicide detective Kate Beckett as the unlikely duo solve unusual crimes across New York City. Eventually, the story transforms into a romance as the two fall for each other and work to solve the murder of Beckett’s mother.
Piggybacking off of the success of “Castle,” Marlowe and Miller conceived the oversaw the creation of a series of tie-in novels “written” by the show’s protagonist, Richard Castle.
Miller and Marlowe met after they both became winners of the Motion Picture Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting during the same year. Marlowe’s film credits include “Air Force One” with Harrison Ford, “End of Days” with Arnold Schwarzenegger and “Hollow Man,” directed by Paul Verhoeven. Miller wrote the festival favorite short film “Dysenchanted” and serves on the advisory board of Young Storytellers, an organization that helps underserved students find their voice as writers.
Independent Artist Group, which brands itself as an alternative to “the big three” agencies, formed in 2023 after APA merged with the touring powerhouse Artist Group Intl. Its client also includes Billy Joel, Lily Gladstone and 50 Cent, among many others.
Miller and Marlowe continue to be represented by Guymon Casady at Management 360 and by their attorney, Linda Lichter of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark.
