Senate President Counselor Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, today, Tuesday, referred a request for public discussion submitted by Representative Ahmed Jalal Abu Al-Dahab and 20 members; Addressed to the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kojak, regarding “clarifying the government’s policy on improving the efficiency of public spending, and ensuring that financial resources are directed towards the sectors most in need,” and the government’s response and related discussions, to the Financial, Economic and Investment Affairs Committee; To research it and prepare a report on it.

The referral decision came after Representative Ahmed Jalal Abu Al-Dahab, a member of the Senate, reviewed the request for general discussion, where he stressed that improving the efficiency of public spending is one of the urgent priorities in light of the current global circumstances characterized by economic challenges. Such as financial crises, inflation, and geopolitical turmoil, which increase pressure on the financial resources of countries, indicating that as a result of these crises, it has become necessary to adopt effective mechanisms to improve the management of public spending to ensure that public funds are directed towards achieving the maximum possible benefit.

He said. Abu Al-Dahab said that mechanisms for improving the efficiency of public spending include developing financial monitoring and auditing systems, and using technology to enhance transparency and accountability, while applying precise standards to evaluate performance and results by measuring the economic and social return of each project or policy funded from the general budget. In addition to relying on accurate economic analysis and periodic review, which helps identify areas that need improvement or redirection.

Abu Al-Dahab added that the expected results from improving spending efficiency include reducing loss and waste of resources, and increasing the effectiveness of programs. government, achieving long-term financial sustainability, in addition to enhancing confidence between the government and citizens, by directing spending towards priority sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure
