The Egyptian Museum announces the trial operation of the exhibition halls

Today, the Grand Egyptian Museum announced the start of trial operation of the main exhibition halls, starting October 16, 2024, offering visitors an exceptional opportunity to explore twelve carefully curated exhibition halls.

 

 

 

The museum’s main exhibition halls take visitors on a unique journey extending through thousands of years of Egyptian history, beginning with prehistoric times (700,000 BC). All the way back to the Roman era (ca. 394 AD).

 

 

The exhibits include artifacts presented under three interconnected themes – property, society, and beliefs. – Reflecting the dynamic relationship between the kings of ancient Egypt, their people, and their gods.  

The main exhibition halls combine the splendor of individual artifacts with the broader historical narrative, allowing visitors to explore Egyptian heritage in multiple ways, whether chronologically, through specific themes, or in a personalized style that suits their own interests.  

In addition to the main exhibition halls,  Visitors enjoy other places, such as the Hanging Obelisk, the first hanging obelisk in the world, the Children’s Museum, the outdoor gardens, and the commercial district that includes a group of restaurants, cafes, and stores offering Egyptian brands.

 

 

  While the main lobby includes majestic antique statues, such as the statue of King Ramesses II, the Victory Column of King Merneptah, and other treasures that link Egypt’s history to its present.   The Great Staircase adds to the luxury of the museum, as it displays more than 60 royal statues and other unique antiques, which enhances visitors’ experience as they discover the heritage of ancient Egypt.  

It should be noted that the Tutankhamun exhibition hall will remain closed until the official opening.  

This trial operation is a new step in the museum’s journey, after the success of its trial opening in selected areas since November 2022, while continuing to improve its services in preparation for the upcoming official event.
