The Egyptian Ambassador to Nairobi discusses enhancing bilateral and regional cooperation with the Kenyan Minister of Defense
Ambassador Wael Nasr El-Din Attia, Egyptian Ambassador to Nairobi, discussed with Rosalinda Taya, Kenyan Minister of Defense, opportunities to enhance cooperation between the two countries and issues of common interest in the Horn of Africa region.
During the meeting, the Ambassador reviewed aspects of cooperation between the two countries. Especially in the areas of training and raising human capabilities.. He also highlighted the Egyptian efforts to support the stability of Somalia and enhance its capabilities to confront terrorism.. stressing the efficiency and professionalism of the Egyptian forces participating in international and regional peacekeeping operations over many decades, and the high reputation and appreciation they enjoy.
For her part, the Kenyan Minister praised the existing cooperation between the two countries, expressing her aspiration that its expansion will be discussed during the upcoming sixth joint military committee meeting to maximize the benefit from Egyptian expertise.
Taya stressed her country’s appreciation for any Egyptian contribution that would support security and stability in the Horn of Africa region…noting Kenya’s continued work with all international partners and the African Union for a speedy resolution Procedural and financing aspects of the new African mission in Somalia that will replace the existing mission to prevent a security gap.
