The Egyptian ambassador in Baghdad meets the Iraqi Minister of Justice

The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Baghdad, Ambassador Ahmed Samir, met on January 9 with the Iraqi Minister of Justice, Dr. Khaled Shawani.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the growing relations between the two countries at all levels. The levels, which were represented by the multiplicity of Egyptian companies’ participation in infrastructure projects in Baghdad and the rest of the Iraqi governorates, and the increasing frequency of exchange of high-level visits during the year 2024, Especially the visit of His Excellency the Prime Minister “Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani” To Egypt and his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and the visit of two Deputy Prime Ministers to Baghdad, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population.

 

The Egyptian ambassador praised the facilities provided by Iraqi law enforcement agencies for embassy visits to Egyptian citizens in places of detention. In turn, the Iraqi Minister of Justice expressed his appreciation for the level of cooperation between the two countries, stressing the Iraqi government’s appreciation for the role played by Egyptian companies in Iraqi infrastructure projects.

 

The two sides also discussed a group of Important topics to be raised during the work of the Egyptian-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee expected to be held in 2025. It was agreed to continue meetings between the embassy and the Ministry of Justice to exchange visions and benefit from any developments in issues of interest between the two sides.
