I swear all anybody is talking about when it comes to The Block is how Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey quit halfway through filming. To be fair, they were the first contestants in history to pull such a stunt this late in the game!
Anyway, things are about to heat up on the dramatic renovation show when Jesse and Paige actually come back for a lil’ visit near the end of the season.
After everything that went down — an insider told us it was worse than what was on screen — I’m shocked they headed back to the source of all their trauma.
The couple return to the reality show five weeks after they left, so I’m gonna take a stab here and guess they’re touring the completed houses. It’ll be interesting for them to see what happened to their house in the hands of Sydney sisters (and their replacements) Maddy and Charlotte.
Paige has since taken to social media to criticise the couples’ edit, but their return was filmed prior to any episodes airing on TV.
“It was a sneaky tactic of [producers] to have them back and film something before the controversial couple watched the show with the rest of Australia as their feelings have changed since they’ve watched their edit,” a source told Yahoo! Lifestyle.
“What audiences will see in the final week will look very much like, ‘Everything is fine. See look, they still love the show!’. Would they have come back if they asked them now? I guess that answer is pretty clear if you are following Paige’s social media.”
Paige previously opened up about their edit, telling PEDESTRIAN.TV that not everything is as it seems.
“We’re not naive to the absolute chaos [producers] are chalking our experience up to be, and it’s a shame that everything that has been shown is not in the context in which it happened,” she said.
When it comes to how the pair were portrayed, with Paige calling sponsors “assholes” and breaking down in tears over conflict with business owners, she insisted this wasn’t a true snapshot of their time on Phillip Island.
“We had a great relationship with our builder, which continues to this very day… we keep in touch with sponsors and local business owners from the island daily,” she claimed.
There’s one narrative that both producers of The Block and the couple agree on, though: that Jesse and Paige’s exit was best for everybody.
“Leaving The Block was easily the best decision we made. Absolutely no regrets,” Paige told us.
PEDESTRIAN.TV has reached out to Jesse and Paige for further comment.
