The Oscar’s messier, more hip, sister, the Golden Globes has come to an end and unfortunately for us Aussies, the big awards night fell on a Monday, where many of us are still reeling from New Year’s celebrations. So, to catch you up on all the Hollywood gossip, here are the biggest moments from the 2025 Golden Globes.
Look-a-like contest winners show up on the red carpet
While the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet was packed to the brim with chick celebrities, like Ariana Grande, Angeline Jolie, the Fanning sisters and more, it was the winners of the Timothée Chalamet and Glen Powell look-a-like competitions who stole the show.
ICYMI, in late 2024, the world went through a period where everyone was obsessed with look-a-like contests. In a surprising twist, both Chlamaet and Powell turned up to their competitions to congratulate the winners.
And now, they’re on the 2025 Golden Globes carpet.
I guess pretty privilege gets you everywhere.
Zendaya sparks engagement rumours with Tom Holland
Queen of the red carpet Zendaya slayed the 2025 Golden Globes, as we would expect, but it was a giant rock on her finger that caught the attention of eagle-eyed punters.
You see, the Euphoria singer was spotted with a massive diamond ring on her left ring finger, which could hint that she is now engaged to Spiderman co-star Tom Holland, who she’s been dating since 2021.
One fan also noticed that she now has a little “t” tattoo, which could easily be linked to the Billy Elliot star.
The Los Angeles Times also reported that the mysterious rock was “noticeably not highlighted in a Bulgari press release” which listed all the accessories she wore (Zendaya is a long-time Bulgari ambassador).
I guess we’ll have to wait for the hard launch!
Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue slays except for one joke
Unlike Jo Koy‘s monologue from last year, it appears that the crowd at this year’s Golden Globes enjoyed the comedy stylings of Nikki Glaser, who also made history by becoming the first woman to host the show alone.
During her opening monologue, Glaser poked fun at a bunch of stars and their projects that have been nominated, which is something to be expected for an awards show.
However, it was a joke about Challengers and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs — the rapper who’s copped multiple charges, including racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution — that seemed to rub citizens the wrong way.
You see, Glaser seemed to hit a soft spot when she said, “And Challengers? Girl, oh my God, it was so good, I mean, that movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card,” which garnered an awkies reaction from the crowd.

She continued with the Diddy jokes, sharing things like “Oh no, I’m sorry, I’m upset too, the after-party’s not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on! I know, Stanley Tucci’s ‘Freak Off’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it, but no baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”
Combs has denied all allegations made against him. He is currently in prison ahead of his trial, which is set to begin on May 5, 2025.
Internet goes into collective heat over Andrew Garfield
LOOK. I’m not going to lie to you. I wasn’t paying attention to what category was being read out. I just know Andrew Garfield was putting glasses on and the internet went super horny.
Here are some of the best reactions!
Margaret Qualley and Demi Moore recreate The Substance
The Substance — in my humble opinion — is one of the most iconic horror movies of all time. And when it was announced that the stars of the movie, Margaret Qualley and Demi Moore, would be presenting together, we just knew they were gonna get up to some shenanigans.
While they didn’t bring out Monstro Elisasue, they did some dialogue where they joked about “respecting the balance” and that they “are one”, two key references from the movie that have been picked up by Stan Twitter.

PEDESTRIAN.TV Lives in Jeff Goldblum’s mind rent-free
OK, so this one might be a bit of a reach, but I’m willing to stretch!
During the Wicked press tour in Australia, PEDESTRIAN.TV’s Senior Reporter Laura Masia went viral for calling Jeff Goldblum a “zaddy” and Jonathan Bailey a “daddy”.
Now in 2025, the term has returned during Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh‘s presenting gig at the Golden Globes!!!!
Masia is international BBY!
Demi Moore’s acceptance speech makes me uncontrollably cry
Again, she’s a bit biased here because The Substance has been my hyper-fixation for the last couple of months, but Demi Moore’s speech after winning Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical of Comedy had me bawling.
Within her speech, the 62-year-old icon spoke about how this Golden Globe was the “first time [she] ever won anything as an actor”.
“Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress,” Moore shared.
“And at that time I made that mean that this [award] wasn’t something that I was allowed to have. That I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged. I bought in, and I believed that.
“And that corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete. I’ve done what I was supposed to do.”
Following that confession, Moore added that The Substance was exactly what she needed to star in.
“I’ll just leave you with one thing that I think this movie is imparting,” she said.
“In those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough, or basically just not enough — I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.’”

The return of Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet content
While the Golden Globes are an opportunity to celebrate all of the movies and TV shows of the past year, it’s also the one time of the year when we get to see Kylie Jenner and Timothée be a legit couple and not a figment of our imaginations.

While we always joke that the pair are a PR stunt conducted by Kris Jenner, I reckon they make quite the pair.
Fernanda Torres makes history by becoming the first Brazilian actress to win Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama
In a history-making win, actress and writer Fernanda Torres became the first Brazilian actress to nab the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama.
The 59-year-old actor nabbed the winning title for I’m Still Here, where Eunice Paiva (played by Torres) is “forced to reinvent herself” after her family gets shattered “by an act of arbitrary violence” during military dictatorship in Brazil, 1971.
Welp! That was it!
