But yesterday he cemented his reputation as the UK’s most boring politician after leaked documents revealed that the government is considering banning smoking from a range of outdoor settings, including beer gardens and nightclub smoking areas. Starmer confirmed that the government was considering the proposals yesterday afternoon (August 29).
Naturally, the news has come as a blow to socially stunted, nicotine-addicted twenty-somethings everywhere. We’re already in the middle of a loneliness epidemic – how on earth are we expected to make friends without asking to borrow a lighter in the smoking area?
