Teenager found seriously injured after violent stabbing in Melbourne’s CBD

A teenager has been seriously injured in a stabbing in Melbourne’s CBD, as police hunt for a man seen running from the scene. 

The 19-year-old man was discovered with stab wounds near Queen Street and Franklin Street, adjacent to the Queen Victoria Market, at about 10.30pm on Wednesday. 

He was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  

Witnesses said they saw a man wearing a backpack running from the scene but could provide no further description. 

Officers were seen scouring the scene on Wednesday night with an officer placing what appeared to be an article of clothing in an evidence bag.

‘It was reported to police that a man wearing a backpack was spotted running from the scene towards Elizabeth St,’ Victoria Police said.

‘Despite a thorough search of the area, the man was not located.’

A crime scene was established and an investigation has been launched. Anyone with information or CCTV footage has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
