The CEO of a software company died after falling 200 feet while climbing at Zion National Park in Utah.
Justin Bingham, 40, was rappelling near the exit of Heaps Canyon with three other people on October 5 at approximately 6 p.m. when he fell between 150 and 200 feet, the National Parks Service (NPS) said.
Over 50 rescuers from Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and more arrived on scene to perform emergency medical care.
Bingham was extracted by a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter to a helispot near Watchman Campground, where he received additional aid but was pronounced dead before he could be transported by air ambulance to a hospital.
‘Justin was involved in a tragic accident while enjoying one of his greatest passions—exploring the outdoors,’ his tech company Opiniion said.

The three other canyoneers with Bingham were rescued the next morning two were extracted by helicopter and the third was assisted with rappelling down the canyon.
Justin and his wife Lindsay documented their lives as a family of six and the story of their son Landon who has cerebral palsy on their YouTube channel called Life in Holland.
The title is inspired by a story from author Emily Perl Kingsley called Welcome to Holland about raising a child with a disability.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Bingham graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Business and Italian.
He attended on a track and field scholarship and competed in the 110M high hurdles and the 400M hurdles.
