T. J. Holmes & Amy Robach Take Aim At David Muir’s Vanity While Covering L.A. Wildfires: “Seems Like A Slap In Face to People Dealing With Situation”

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are the latest to point fingers at ABC News anchor David Muir and how he appeared on camera while covering the L.A. wildfires.

In a photo that has since gone viral, Muir can be seen using a clothes pin to help make his ABC News slicker appear more form-fitting while reporting this week from L.A.. His look brought out all sorts of wannabe fashion critics who criticized the anchor for seeming superficial while covering the devastation.

In the Jan. 10 episode of their podcast titled “Does This Fire Make Me Look Fat?”, Holmes attempts to establish the worthiness of their latest podcast topic by saying Muir is “being ripped” for what he wore before questioning whether he deserves all the negative attention.

By the sounds of it, he and Robach seem to agree that yes, Muir deserves every bit of the ribbing he’s received in the hours since he filed the report for ABC World News Tonight.

“Just the thought that went into the look of something,” Robach, who used to work with Muir at ABC News, says to Holmes. “When you have a massive tragedy unfolding behind you with flames, people’s homes, belongings lives being lost, to be concerned about how you look seems like a slap in the face to the people dealing with the worst possible situation.”

The two also address how Jack Osbourne and Donald Trump Jr. took swipes at Muir. Megyn Kelly, naturally, took aim at the anchor on her show, too.

“I understand the anger and the fact that they’re hurling it at him because by seeing that clothes pin, it looks like his focus was on himself instead of on the story he was covering,” continued Robach, who added there has been no official statement from ABC News.

“You see this guy on TV discredited,” continues Holmes. “There’s no question it leaves a bad taste of the mouth of somebody who is going through what they’re going through in L.A.”

In 2023, the former GMA 3 anchors signed a deal with iHeartMedia to launch a new podcast following their exit earlier that year after reports surfaced of their romantic relationship.
