Swiss Drosos Foundation: Youth are the future of countries and we must join hands to empower them

Director of the Swiss Drosos Foundation, Hanan Dowidar, said that we are seeking to establish partnerships with the private sector. With the aim of supporting young people, enhancing their capabilities and developing their skills to understand the future, she pointed out that young people are the future of countries, and we must all join together to empower them. 

This came during the Foundation’s director’s participation in a session entitled “Facilitating local businesses from For sustainable civilizational development”, on the sidelines of the “Business and Institutions Forum”, which was held at the World Urban Forum hosted by Egypt during the period (4 – 8) of this November.

 

Dowidar added that the Foundation works with Cairo in the field of supporting youth and developing their skills, stressing the importance of teaching them technology and engineering, building their capabilities to enhance the development of communities and building smart cities, and providing them with all appropriate support. Which contributes to the development of societies. 

 

She explained that the Foundation has provided a helping hand to young people in communities exposed to disasters and wars, as it has succeeded in providing assistance to citizens coming from Sudan. With the aim of enhancing their livelihoods, as well as supporting them by enhancing digital skills, adapting to smart cities, listening to the aspirations of young people, and providing sufficient support so that they can be a contributing part of societies.

 

She noted that the interest People with special needs are one of the Foundation’s most important priorities, calling for the need to employ them in the private sector to benefit from their skills and advantages and enable them to contribute to the development of society.

 

She stressed that the Foundation has successful social projects that focus on empowering people with special needs. People with special needs, noting that the private sector has begun to realize how much addition people with disabilities add to work.

 

She pointed out that people with special needs have been able to provide wonderful business models, As the private sector has great opportunities to participate in future successes and achieve sustainable development. The Foundation participated with Egypt in implementing the bicycle project, and shared the application with the private sector in that project.

 

It explained that it worked with the General Office of the Cairo Governorate, and allocated lanes for bicycles in part Kabir is from the downtown area, noting that work was done with the United Nations to benefit from its international experience.

 

The director of the foundation said that bringing together all parties to achieve one goal was a relatively complex issue, Explaining that the issue is not only related to financing, but rather comes to the need for the commitment of all concerned parties and starting where others left off.

 

She stressed that the road to achieving sustainability is long, as we seek to implement the project. In other new governorates and cities, she said, “We need business thinking to support the poor and the most needy, and work according to clear strategies so that these efforts are sustainable.”

 

She called for focusing on Finding innovative solutions to achieve sustainability and providing services to those in need, listening to communities and doing so in a sustainable manner to achieve interests. 

 

It is noteworthy that the “Business and Institutions Forum” session Aims to enhance dialogue between the public and private sectors; To identify innovative approaches to integrating private sector expertise and resources into local urban development initiatives, as well as foster collaborative efforts to design and implement scalable models that effectively channel private capital toward sustainable urban growth and resilience.
