Sweden school shooting latest: Gunman could be one of five injured, police say, after shots fired in Örebro

The gunman who carried out an attack at a Swedish school is among five people injured, Swedish police have said.

Five people were shot at the the Risbergska School, an adult educational institute in the city of Örebro some 200 km (125 miles) west of Stockholm, on Tuesday.

Lena Warenmark, a teacher at Risbergska, told national broadcaster SVT: “We heard gunshots very close to our study. There were probably ten shots.”

A horrified parent of one of the students added: “I am shaken and easily moved to tears now, but my daughter writes to me that she is praying to God that everything will be okay.”

Students are being sheltered in nearby buildings as armed police search the area, with authorities warning the danger was not over.

“Five people are confirmed shot,” police said in a statement. “This is currently seen as attempted murder, arson and aggravated weapons offence.”

Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer said: “The government is in close contact with the police and is following developments closely. The information about the violent attack in Orebro is extremely serious.”
