Statement of the pharmacy inspection account at the Drug Authority within two months

The Egyptian Medicines Authority and its branches in the governorates, in coordination with various regulatory and security authorities, intensified the efforts of expanded inspection campaigns, during the month of November, on pharmaceutical institutions throughout the republic. The inspection included passing through more than 26 thousand pharmacy establishments, “public and private pharmacies in hospitals, drug stores, distribution companies, and pharmaceutical factories,” and implementing approximately 470 inspection campaigns in coordination with the security services, and many violations were detected. It varied between the seizure of smuggled medicines not registered with the Egyptian Drug Authority, the absence of the responsible pharmacist director or his representative, and practicing a profession without a license and in unlicensed places.

 

The most prominent of these were based on Information received by the Egyptian Medicines Authority: 78 unlicensed establishments were arrested, following the legalization of procedures, in cooperation with the security services, for storing quantities of medicines and withholding them from circulation, the most prominent of which was in the Fayoum governorates. And Cairo, Giza, Sharqia, Dakahlia, Alexandria, Menoufia, Gharbia, and Beni Suef, in addition to seizing a number of unlicensed places run as pharmacies without a license.

 

Five unlicensed manufacturing places were also seized in the governorates of Menoufia and Giza. Al-Sharqia manufactures sterile medical supplies, distilled water for use with antibiotics, medicines, nutritional supplements, and disinfectants before they are traded in the markets, and all measures have been taken. legal; The estimated value of the seized items amounted to more than 60 million Egyptian pounds.

 

The Egyptian Medicines Authority calls on all pharmacists and citizens to contact it through various means of communication in the event of violations regarding the circulation of medicines, including: Through the hotline 15301 or the Authority’s official website.

 

This comes within the framework of the Egyptian Medicine Authority’s efforts to control the drug market and maintain quality and effectiveness. And the safety of pharmaceutical preparations and medical supplies circulated in pharmaceutical institutions, as well as monitoring storage and circulation places and raiding unlicensed places.
