Spanish golfer Jose Ballester at risk of punishment for URINATING into Rae’s Creek during first round at the Masters – but insists he ‘would do it again’

Spanish rising star Jose Luis Ballester may have landed himself in hot water – after urinating into iconic Rae’s Creek during his first round at the Masters.

Amid cheers from the gallery the 21-year-old sprinted to the Amen Corner landmark on the 13th and promptly relieved himself.

When back in the clubhouse an unrepentant Ballester, who could now face the wrath of the green jackets, defended his actions, claiming he had forgotten there was a restroom next to the tee box.

‘I’m like, I really need to pee,’ he added after carding four over.

‘I didn’t really know where to go…I’m like, I’m just going to sneak here in the river and probably people would not see me that much, and then they clapped for me.’

When asked if he was concerned about action from Augusta National officials, Ballester responded: ‘They saw me. It was not embarrassing at all for me. If I had to do it again, I would do it again.’

Elsewhere, Justin Rose made a flying start to his challenge and was at six under after 14 while Tyrell Hatton entered the clubhouse at three under and Rory McIlroy was nicely poised at three under through 10.

Last year’s champion Scottie Scheffler, seeking his third green jacket, earlier recorded an ominous-looking four under while Wolverhampton’s Aaron Rai finished with two under.
