Shocked soccer fans have slammed a highly entitled mother on social media after she called out Sydney FC marquee signing Douglas Costa for not talking to her son after a recent A-League match.
The bizarre exchange was shared on Reddit, where even Brazilian international Costa weighed into the conversation.
Costa, 34, signed a two-year deal with the Sky Blues in August, and supporters in recent months have loved watched the dazzling skills of the man who has previously played for Juventus in Italy and German giants Bayern Munich.
But in the eyes of one fan – the mother – Costa needs to go above and beyond.
‘Douglas Costa – loved by our fans and opposition ones too,’ read a post from Sydney FC, showing the right winger signing autographs for Perth Glory supporters last weekend.
In a scarcely believable response, the mother posted: ‘Pitty (sic) he doesn’t even do this at Sydney home games.’

Costa responded, posting ‘every game’ before adding ‘if you ask your little boy I already gave my jersey to him.’
The fired up mother wasn’t finished yet, responding with ‘and he absolutely appreciates it…but sometimes taking the time to talk to your little fans who adore you means more than anything.’
Understandably, her comments responded in a tidal wave of criticism from bemused soccer supporters.
‘Unreal entitlement,’ said one fan who echoed the thoughts of many.
‘I for one, cannot believe Douglas Costa is not having a five minute conversation with every single fan at the stadium,’ joked another.
Meanwhile, Costa was a key figure when Sydney FC reached the AFC Champions League Two quarter-finals for the first time in club history recently.
He scored a stunning goal in extra time as Ufuk Talay’s men dramatically upstaged Bangkok United 3-2 in extra time and 5-4 on aggregate.
For the shattered hosts, it was their first home defeat in 31 games and almost two years.
Speaking post game, Costa paid tribute to the fighting spirit from his teammates.
‘I’m really happy. I’m really proud,’ he said. ‘It’s hard to play [over] here, the conditions are not the same as we play back home.
‘Congratulations to everyone…..and if all the players are fit, we can do big things season.’
