SNL Insiders Are Reportedly Not Sorry For Aimee Lou Wood Skit

This week, The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood spoke out about a “mean” and “unfunny” joke featured in a skit on Saturday Night Live (SNL) which made fun of her teeth.

While Wood has said that she’s received apologies from SNL for the sketch, SNL insiders claim that the big dogs behind the scenes aren’t sorry at all. Instead, they think the whole thing is a bit ridiculous.

According to the Daily Mail, Wood hasn’t received a formal apology from SNL because the team behind the scenes find the whole thing “ridiculous”.

“Far worse has been said about other celebrities and everyone knows that this is what SNL does,” said the insider.

“It’s comedy. It is meant to entertain.”

Another insider told the publication that the sketch was “all in good fun” and not out of the ordinary for an SNL skit.

“No one needed her approval,” the source said.

“If Aimee Lou got an apology, it would have been from someone directly involved in the skit who contacted her to personally apologise.”

In case you missed it, SNL did a skit called The White POTUS, which was a spoof of The White Lotus featuring a bunch of political figures, including Donald Trump. While the political figures clearly took inspiration from the characters on the show, Wood’s character Chelsea was the only one who was a direct rip-off.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Wood shared that she didn’t find the sketch mocking her appearance funny.

“I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,” Wood said on her Instagram Stories.

“Such a shame cos’ I had such a great time watching it a couple of weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about. But there must be a cleverer, more nuanced and less cheap way?”

After receiving a heap of kind DMs in support, Wood revealed she did get an apology from SNL.

“I’ve had apologies from SNL,” she said.

However, on Tuesday, Wood was papped crying in London. Many people assumed she was crying over the whole SNL debacle. While she received an outpouring of support, the 31-year-old assured her followers that she wasn’t crying over the sketch.

“Thank you so much,” she said.

“Just to say, I actually wasn’t crying about anything that the papers made out I was crying about. Something completely unrelated.”

I’m glad the SNL situation didn’t make her cry, but so help me god, if I ever find out who made that sweet angel cry these mighty fists will go FLYING.
