The Misr Public Library in Ismailia launched an initiative entitled “Smile, You are in Ismailia,” which aims to teach children and youth the principles of drawing through artistic workshops held in open spaces, under the patronage of Major General Akram Mohamed Galal, Governor of Ismailia.
The initiative’s first activities took place in the parks of the Number 6 area, which is a distinctive entertainment destination for Ismailia residents.
Amal Ragab, Director of the Egypt Public Library, confirmed that the initiative aims to discover the artistic talents of children and youth, and encourage them to develop their creative abilities.
She added that choosing Number 6 Gardens reflects the keenness to interact with the local community in places where families gather, which enhances the positive impact of the initiative and makes art close to everyone.
A group of young female volunteers participated in implementing the workshops, in addition to the artist Muhammad Tarkhan and the artist Sarah Abdullah, who provided guidance to the participating children and helped them learn the basics of drawing in an interesting and inspiring manner.
Rajab explained that drawing in open spaces is not limited to developing artistic skills, but also contributes to launching participants’ imaginations and enhancing their ability to express themselves creatively. She continued, “We all strive to make Ismailia more beautiful, and we believe that young people are the hope of achieving this goal by developing their talents and love for art.”
The initiative comes as part of the Misr Public Library’s vision to support the arts and creativity as a means of self-expression, and to consolidate the values of beauty and creativity in society.
The initiative continues weekly in various arts fields in the streets, squares and parks of Ismailia.
