Signing of two cooperation protocols between Al-Rai, Misr Al-Khayrat and Radio to implement campaign activities at its best
During the activities of the Seventh Cairo Water Week, Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, announced the launch of the “Ala Al Qad” campaign, in the presence of Dr. Ali Gomaa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Misr Al Khair, and a number of editors-in-chief of press institutions, intellectuals, media figures, senior writers, and influential gentlemen in the field. Swailm explained that the goal of this initiative is to convey an important concept to Egyptians, which is preserving water as a blessing from God, which is limited in Egypt. Given its fixed share, which is estimated at 55.5 billion cubic meters annually, he pointed out that the population increase that coincides with the stability of water resources requires all of us to work together in various ministries, institutions, concerned parties and public figures to preserve them, adding that the success of the campaign depends on the concerted efforts of these efforts. Without which the desired success of this campaign will not be achieved, he called on the media and public figures to present simple messages in the various programs to conserve water. Pointing out that the campaign targets all segments of Egyptian society, including children, youth, students and women.
Sweilem stressed that Egypt has achieved great achievements in achieving the sixth goal of the sustainable development goals as certified by international institutions. Egypt also cooperates with our African brothers to achieve the goals of the African Water Agenda 2063.
The Minister of Irrigation explained that agriculture is the largest consumer of water resources in Egypt, and therefore delivering messages to farmers has priority among others. All targeted parties, such as switching to modern irrigation and preserving waterways from pollution, in addition to educating citizens about rationalizing household uses.
With regard to climate change, the minister referred to the high heat waves that the country witnessed. In the summer of the current year and the previous year, despite this, farmers did not feel a shortage of water in the canals due to the huge efforts made by the Ministry’s agencies during the season of maximum water needs.
He also directed Thanks to all the ministries and entities that contributed to this campaign, which are the Ministries of (Education – Endowments – Culture – Agriculture – Transport – Environment), Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Church, the Misr Al-Khair Foundation, and to radio station Sanaa Mansour for the awareness-raising notices she recorded with her well-known voice, and Egyptian Radio for broadcasting the campaign’s notices.< /p>
For his part, Dr. Ali Jumah delivered a speech in which he pointed out that the launch of the Ali Al-Qad campaign comes as a measure of compliance with God’s command for us to rebuild the earth and purify the soul in His Almighty’s saying, “O sons of Adam, take I have beautified you at every mosque, and eat and drink, and do not be extravagant. Indeed, He does not like the extravagant. Pointing out that wasting water is considered a crime, as we reported on the authority of Saad bin Abi Waqqas on the authority of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he forbade wasting water even if it was on a flowing river.
He added that setting off his load ( Ali Al-Qad) comes to raise awareness among Egyptians about the importance of water, and the Misr Al-Khair Foundation is cooperating in this field with all its capabilities and community institutions throughout the country. Adding that today we are signing a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation to launch this campaign to conserve water, and we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, for all his efforts in this field.
