Shocking moment darts star holds up a middle finger at crowd in Germany after fan abuse

Darts star Scott Williams has risked being fined after raising a middle finger during the German Darts Grand Prix.

The 35-year-old Englishman was facing Northern Ireland’s Josh Rock in Munich when the incident occurred.

Williams was subjected to abuse from the crowd during his match, including what appeared to be an F-word insult shouted in his direction.

‘It’s fair to say he’s not a favourite of the fans here in Munich,’ commentator Dan Dawson said.

In response to the abuse, Williams turned to the crowd and raised his middle finger before stepping up to the oche.

The world no 37 went on to suffer a 6-2 defeat by Rock – and could now find himself in hot water with the Darts Regulation Authority for the gesture he made.

In December 2024, Rob Cross was fined after he appeared to imitate a sexual act during his loss to Williams.

Cross was quick to apologise on social media, posting at the time: ‘Massively disappointed to lose out to my friend Scott Williams. Good luck to him for the rest of the tournament.

‘I made a gesture to my manager about how annoyed I was with my performance. If it offended anyone, I apologise. Merry Christmas.’

In his post-match press conference, Cross added: ‘I have actually [had the letter from the DRA]. I don’t even know whether I’m allowed to speak about that,’

‘Put it this way, for what I got fined, it’s the quickest fine I’ve ever paid.’
