Here’s some good news for all you innies and outies out there: Severance has been renewed for a third season by Apple TV+!! Praise Kier!
The news came via X (formerly Twitter), after director and executive producer Ben Stiller tweeted at Apple CEO Tim Cook and asked if Severance could be renewed for a third season. Cook replied with “Season three of Severance is available upon request”, giving the show the green light for another season.
This we’ll get to see Mark. S (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), Irving (John Turturro), Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman), and Ms. Cobel (Patricia Arquette) in the near future. Hell yes!!

Some more good news is that Stiller assured fans that they won’t have to wait three years for the new season while on the podcast, New Heights, hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce.
“No, no, the plan is not – definitely not,” Stiller said.
“We’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon. That will not be that.”
The show first premiered back in 2022, and released its second season in January 2025. Factors including the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA strike of the same year delayed season two’s production drastically.

Season two’s finale episode had 76-minute runtime, featuring a full marching band, baby goats, and a healthy heaping of blood. (Give it a watch if you haven’t yet!)
The psychological sci-fi thriller series has become Apple TV+’s most-watched series, surpassing other hit shows on the streaming service including Ted Lasso, and has been critically lauded on a global scale.
With the news that season three is on its way, we broke down all the facts that we currently know about when we can expect to see our favourite office drama back on our screens. Spoilers for the season two finale ahead!
When is Severance season three premiering?
We don’t have a definite answer on the date just yet.
However, since both season one and two have been released at the start of the year – February 2022 and January 2025, respectively – it can be assumed that season three will follow suit.
And since ol’ mate Stiller promised the production won’t take another three years to finish, we reckon that the third season will premiere sometime in early 2026 or 2027.
What is the plot of Severance season three?
No clue ATM! We can assume that it will follow the aftermath of season two’s finale, which (SPOILER!!) saw innie Mark set Gemma (Dichen Lachman) free from Lumon, while he chose to stay with Helly, betraying his outie self in the process.
Only time will tell what our Macrodata Refinement (MDR) besties get up to in the upcoming season.
Like you, we’ve got soooo many burning questions after season two’s finale! We’ve rounded them up in this article here.
Will season three be the final season of Severance?
While I personally wish the show could go on for another ten seasons, there are a few signs that point towards season three being the show’s end.
For one, the goal of the series so far has been to free Ms. Casey/Gemma from Lumon, and Mark S completed this achievement (despite not leaving with her) he and the rest of the severed staff are still stuck inside the office building.
However there are also some pretty glaring hints that the next season will also include the innies rising up against Lumon and fighting for their half-lives, so there’s plenty of story left to tell.
But this is all still speculation! Who knows at this point? Apple TV+ might want to keep their streaming darling going for as long as humanly possible at this point.
