Seminar participants "Old rent" The Journalists Syndicate stress the inevitability of returning rights to their owners

Participants in a symposium organized by the Economic Committee of the Journalists Syndicate on the “old rent law” stressed the importance of achieving a balance between the landlord and the tenant, not favoring one party at the expense of the other, and taking into account peace and social security.

The representative, Mohamed Abdel-Aleem, said Dawoud, a member of the House of Representatives from the Wafd Party – in the symposium – said that Parliament is fully committed to the ruling of the Constitutional Court regarding the old lease, and that we, as representatives of the people, will strive to achieve balance and justice between the two landlord parties. For his part, Representative Ismail Nasr El-Din, a member of the Housing Committee in the House of Representatives for the Helwan district, said that from his position as a parliamentarian, he will do his best to come up with a balanced law that upholds truth and justice and upholds the constitution, explaining that Both parties (the landlord and the tenant) have clear rights, stressing also the need to take into account the extent of the tenant’s ability to pay the fair value of the rent according to what was determined by scientific and specialized bodies in the Ministry of Housing.

 

In turn, he said Dr. Mahmoud Attia, the lawyer in cassation representing the tenants, said that he had no comment on the court’s rulings, and that what primarily concerned him was social security.

 

Attia explained that the request for an increase in the value Renting is acceptable, but the tenant must be taken into account in light of the current economic conditions.

 

Yasser Al-Rashidi, the legal jurist, said that there was no radical change in the old rental file except with the issuance of The ruling of the Constitutional Court, which restored constitutional rights that had been deprived of landlords for nearly a hundred years.

 

He added that the judiciary was fair to landlords with this ruling, especially since it obligated the Council Representatives have a specific period of time to issue legislation abolishing the fixed rent.
