Seaford: Woman’s body spotted floating at popular beach sparking urgent police investigation

A woman’s body has been spotted floating at a popular beach near Melbourne.

The body was found by locals who called emergency services to Seaford Beach, off the Nepean Highway in Frankston, at 6.55am Friday.

Police immediately established a crime scenes on the beach before quickly setting up another one at a seperate beach to the south. 

The woman has yet to be identified and officers have said it is too early to determine whether or not the death is suspicious, a spokesperson said. 

Several items were also found washed up which police are currently investigating.  

‘A second crime scene is in place on Frankston beach front after a number of items were located,’ the spokesperson said.

‘Police are investigating whether they are linked to the death of the woman.’

The woman’s body will be subject to a post-mortem examination in order to figure out her cause of death.

It is understood that what appeared to be blood was found amongst the sand on the same beach the body was spotted at, 7News reports.

Detectives were seen door-knocking houses in the area as their investigation commenced in its early stages, the publication stated.
