A Sydney man has told how he was watering the garden when he received a call informing him that he had won a $1.2million lottery rpize.
The man was watering his garden at his home in Botany, south of Sydney’s CBD, on Sunday morning when he answered a call from an official from The Lott.
The green thumb was told he held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4527, making him the winner of $1,258,663.69.
The man also scored wins in division three 18 times, division four 45 times and division six 20 times in his System 9 entry – increasing his total prize money to $1,271,613.09.
He was left in total disbelief after discovering he had become a millionaire.
‘How good is that,’ the man exclaimed.
‘Wow. Excellent. Just excellent – that’s the best word I can use. I was just out watering the plants. I had no idea.’

The man added he always believed he would win and had been playing his ‘lucky numbers’ every week for years.
‘I play the same numbers each week – they’re my lucky numbers, but I can’t even think why I picked them all those years ago,’ the man said.
‘You know what – I always thought I would win, if that makes sense.
‘That’s why I kept playing the same numbers.’
The man said he still had no idea how he will use the money.
‘Needless to say, it won’t go astray. It means a great Christmas and 2025 for my family,’ he said.
There were four division one entries from across the country, with two landing in NSW and one each in Queensland and Victoria
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4527 were 1, 16, 11, 13, 35 and 7, while the supplementary numbers were 5 and 14.
Three other lucky Australians scored division one winning entries, with one each landing in NSW, Queensland and Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 417 people so far in 2024, including 121 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In the 2024 financial year there were 292 division one winning Saturday Lotto tickets totalling more than $436million, which created 158 millionaires across the country.
