Sage Steele issues frank response over Trump White House rumors

No, Sage Steele is not ‘vying’ for the role of press secretary in Donald Trump’s second White House administration.

The former ESPN host was said to be doing exactly that in an Axios report from earlier in the week. Bush White House staffer Scott Jennings and model-turned-RNC spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko were also supposedly competing for the job, Axios reported.

But according to Steele, one of several sports figures who supported Trump’s campaign, the opening will not be filled by her.

‘Not sure how these rumors began about me ”vying” to be Press Secretary, but it’s definitely fake news!’ Steele wrote on social media. ‘I haven’t had a single conversation with anyone about that job, and have no desire to do so!’

Steele, who left ESPN last year after settling a lawsuit with the network, made several campaign appearances in support of Trump leading up to his November 5 victory.

She’s also an outspoken critic of trans athletes in women’s sports as well as abortion rights, as Piers Morgan learned during a recent episode of his British talk show.

But despite her growing political consciousness, Steele isn’t tempted to serve as Trump’s intermediary with reporters.

‘Honestly, it was the honor of a lifetime to be a small part of @TeamTrump during the campaign – something I NEVER imagined – but I wholeheartedly believe in @realDonaldTrump @JDVance

& am excited to find ways to continue to serve.

‘It took me years to not be afraid to speak up. That fear is gone forever, and I hope others are beginning to feel the same. [Let’s f***ing go]!’

Steele has made her political stance known in recent months after joining Trump’s campaign trail in the lead-up to his election battle with Kamala Harris.

The 51-year-old has not been afraid to discuss her conservative views since leaving ESPN, who she claimed censored her free speech.

Her initial suspension from the network came about in part due to her comments about former president Barack Obama, after she stated that she did not like him calling himself black because, like herself, he has a white mother.

Steele also served as a moderator at one of Trump’s town halls last month, where the Republican candidate awkwardly called her the wrong name .

‘Let’s have a little fun, Paige,’ Trump said right as his live town hall was set to begin. The Harris campaign immediately blasted out the clip.
