Russian army receives Gibka-S air defense system

The short-range “Jipka-S” anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) will for the first time enter the Russian forces in 2022.

“Gibka-S” is designed to provide air defense. The complex is able to protect against aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, cruise missiles and precision weapons systems.

In addition, combat vehicles are equipped with reconnaissance equipment and an automated control system, which is part of a unified tactical control system. This makes it possible to carry out round-the-clock combat duty in air defense and fire control in real time.

At the end of 2019, the Gibka-S complex was successfully tested at the Kapustin Yar missile range in the Astrakhan region. The military experimentally confirmed the ability of the air defense system, created on the basis of the Tiger armored vehicle, to attack air targets at a speed of about 30 km / h.
