The Russian Foreign Ministry has declared an employee of the Moldovan Embassy persona non grata. According to message departments, this was done in response to the decision of the Moldovan authorities to expel an employee of the Russian embassy. The Russian Foreign Ministry called this “an unmotivated decision.”
The Chargé d’Affaires of Moldova, Alexander Chetrara, was summoned to the department and given a corresponding note.
On August 1, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry declared a Russian embassy employee persona non grata. “The decision to expel him was made as a result of measures taken that allowed us to collect information and evidence that the Russian diplomat was carrying out activities in Moldova that were incompatible with his diplomatic status,” the ministry said.
How reported According to sources of the Moldovan service of Radio Liberty in diplomatic circles, we are talking about the assistant military attaché of the Russian embassy in Chisinau, Dmitry Kelov. He was a member of the Russian delegation to the Unified Control Commission, a tripartite structure responsible for overseeing the situation in the unrecognized Transnistria.
