Russia begins withdrawing army from Kazakhstan

Russia began withdrawing peacekeepers from Kazakhstan.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that the first airborne units sent by Moscow to carry out the peacekeeping mission of the Collective Security Treaty Organization took off from Alma-Ata airport. Currently, the soldiers are returning to their places of permanent deployment.

The Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, reported the results of the mission to President of State Vladimir Putin.

The task completion ceremony was held in Alma-Ata. The Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Stanislav Zas, noted that the operation in Kazakhstan was the first use of the organization’s forces and demonstrated its effectiveness.
