The farmers are raising their voices. On the third day of the mobilization, Rural Coordination 47 plans to “block three purchasing centers” Wednesday November 20, reports a journalist from France Inter present in front of the Lot-et-Garonne prefecture in Agen. The union is calling in particular for reductions in charges and measures to ensure French competitiveness. Follow our live stream.
• New actions planned for Wednesday. On Tuesday, manure and waste were dumped in front of several prefectures, such as Limoges (Haute-Vienne) or Agen (Lot-et-Garonne). On the A9 motorway, farmers from the Rural Coordination established a roadblock, blocking goods trucks.
• Act 2. Less than a year after a first historic mobilization, agricultural unions believe they have not made enough progress. They also fear the upcoming ratification of a free trade agreement between the European Union and the Latin American countries of Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia).
A first political response. The FNSEA welcomed a “first victory” with the announcement of a vote in the National Assembly on this trade agreement. It will take place on November 26.
