Ruben Amorim provides update on Marcus Rashford’s Man United future – as he insists he’s ‘really happy’ to see him performing for Aston Villa

Ruben Amorim is expecting Marcus Rashford back at the end of the season after his loan spell at Aston Villa, and will make a decision over the England star’s future at Manchester United this summer.
It emerged this week that Rashford is unlikely to play for United again under Amorim after the player was frozen out before joining Villa in January. Rashford is keen to join a club in the Champions League and is reluctant to move to London.
Amorim confirmed that the 27-year-old is due to return to the club along with Antony and Tyrell Malacia who have been on loan at Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven respectively.
Rashford has contributed four goals and six assists in 17 appearances for Villa, and earned an England recall on the back of his improved form.
‘All the players that are on loan, they will return and then the club will decide what to do at the end of the season,’ said Amorim. ‘The talent of Rashford, the talent of Antony, all these players have talent and they have to put that on the team.
‘So we are really happy because if you put one player on loan, the best thing for us is for them to perform and they are performing.’

Meanwhile, United go to Bournemouth on Sunday hoping to climb the table from 14th place and avoid any injuries ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final first leg against Athletic Bilbao.
‘The focus is we have to face it,’ said Amorim after seeing United suffer a club record 15th Premier League defeat of the season at home to Wolves last Sunday. ‘We need to have that feeling every game here is important and we have to win every game. It’s important not to lose.
‘Of course, you see the context. We are going to face this game with the best team. We had a full week to prepare, some of the players didn’t play against Wolves so to recover the players is not a bad thing. I will try to prepare for this game and try and win the next one.
‘With our current squad, you have to take a risk and choose the priority. I want the best players in every game and sometimes it’s hard for me to take a risk in every game. But in this moment we have to make choices and I want to protect the young players. I don’t want to put everybody together in the same game so they can’t perform. I want to help the club and I am trying to help.’
Asked if the club’s owners are sympathetic to the situation, Amorim added: ‘We have to put our standards really, really high and I feel every day the board understands the context, what we want to do and our idea is really clear.
‘I am critical because we are not winning games. We are Manchester United and are near the bottom of the table. We need to be critical, no matter what happens. That is the feeling that I want, that feeling inside Carrington.’
