Revealed: Why a St George Illawarra star is so ‘furious’ about a coach’s ‘lighthearted comment’ he has shockingly decided to quit the club
Questions have been revolving around the future of St George Illawarra star Francis Molo after the prop appeared to fall out with the footy club.
It is understood that the 30-year-old wants to terminate his contract with the New South Wales outfit over an incident involving one of the team’s coaches.
Molo has been at the club since 2022 and made 23 NRL appearances for the side last season.
The former Queensland prop, who has made 62 appearances for the Dragons fronted the club’s board in recent days after he was served with a breach notice for not turning up to training.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the footy star is upset over a ‘lighthearted comment’ that was made to him by a coach at the club.
The outlet claims that the comment is related to alcohol and adds that the comment had reportedly ‘taken the comment to heart’ having abstained from drinking alcohol for nearly two years after he was found guilty of a domestic violence offence.

Molo had been charged with stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm in a domestic setting in December 2022.
He was later suspended for two matches and fined by the NRL after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
He had been handed an 18-month conditional order and was issued an apprehended violence order for a period of two years.
It is understood that Molo had not touched a drink ever since.
It is looking more likely that his $500,000-a-season deal will be coming to an end, with The Daily Telegraph adding that it is ‘now almost certain he has played his final game’ for the club.
‘We addressed the issue the club thought they had, and we’re working through it,’ his manager, Wayde Rushton, said according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
Pressed on whether Molo wanted to leave, Rushton added: ‘Yes. He has already asked for a release, which has been denied.’
The Dragons have also granted Molo an indefinite period of leave as they attempt to resolve the situation.
