Revealed: What ‘Conor Benn told Chris Eubank Jnr’ moments before rival slapped him in the face with an EGG at hostile press conference

An expert lip-reader has opened up on the moments prior to Chris Eubank Jnr slapping Conor Benn in the face with an egg during their pre-fight press conference on Tuesday evening.

The British pair will finally settle their differences at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26, 30 months on from their first fight being cancelled after Benn failed two drugs tests.

The launch press conference for their highly anticipated bout went ahead in Manchester last night, and culminated with the two fighters going head to head.

As they came together, Eubank Jnr responded to Benn trying to get under his skin by slapping him across the right cheek with an egg.

The shocking moment led to members from both teams rushing on to the stage as a brawl broke out, but security were able to keep Eubank Jnr and a seething Benn apart.

And now, professional lip-reader Jeremy Foreman has shone a light on what went on.

He told SPORTbible: ‘[Benn says] I struggle to be surprised that you owe Neymar four million quid, that’s hilarious. Seriously, that’s crazy, right.

‘As the bodyguards (then) manhandle Benn, Benn shouts: “Get off me, get off me”.’

The bizarre allegation surrounding Neymar and Eubank Jnr had first been brought up by Benn earlier in the evening.

He had said: ‘He is an idiot. He owes Neymar four million quid – that’s why he’s taken this fight. So don’t talk s***.’

Neymar had posed with Eubank Jnr following his victory against Kamil Szeremeta in October which saw him win the IBO middleweight championship.

The Brazilian then curiously acted as a peacemaker to separate Eubank Jnr and Benn as they had a heated face off. 

Benn’s allegations in regards to Neymar and Eubank Jnr have not been proven anywhere else and the Brit did not address the story during the press conference.

Meanwhile, following their clash on stage, Benn wrote on X: ‘That’s the only shot you’ll land on me you f****** p****. 2 rounds you are finished @ChrisEubankJr.’ 

Eubank Jnr sent his own message that read: ‘Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg.’ 

Eubank Jnr’s use of the egg comes after Benn initially suggested back in 2022 that his positive tests could have been due to his consumption of too many eggs. 

Benn later denied that was the reason for the failed tests as he fought to prove his innocence. 

He was finally cleared to fight again in the UK in November by an anti-doping panel, and his bout with Eubank Jnr was announced last month. 

But that didn’t stop Eubank Jnr taunting Benn about his egg excuse at Tuesday’s press conference.

Questioning his rival, Eubank Jnr said: ‘Conor, I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a long time, it’s interested me. How many eggs did you have to eat to fail those two drugs tests you dirty little omelette?’ 

Benn shot back: ‘The reality is, I’ve been cleared three times by the NADP, by the WBC, by UKAD, people who are a lot smarter than you. I’ve been cleared. 

‘Two, you will never be cleared of being a w*****. You have the IQ of a five-year-old child.’

Following the clash on Tuesday, the planned face-off between the pair on Wednesday was cancelled amid ‘security concerns’.

Family pride is at stake when Eubank Jnr and Benn finally fight, after their fathers fought each other twice in the 1990s.

Eubank Sr famously beat Benn in a classic bout in 1990, before the pair fought to a draw three years later.

Over 30 years on, Conor is now seeking revenge for his dad, and has added motivation after Tuesday’s chaotic press conference.
