Revealed: Ruben Amorim explains string of Man United injuries ahead of Premier League clash with Tottenham

Manchester United went into Sunday’s clash with Tottenham missing a number of players and manager Ruben Amorim revealed why before the game.

It was a clash between two big clubs who have been horribly out of form this season.

Spurs were boosted by the return of a number of stars but it was a different story for United.

Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer were absent from the squad as the Red Devils travelled to north London.

Leny Yoro and Christian Eriksen were also missing due to illness an Amorim addressed this ahead of the game.

‘Illness,’ he said when asked about the squad. ‘Amad was alone, Ugarte was a kick. Toby and Kobbie felt something during training.

‘It is what it is. We have the kids. They have the opportunity to be on the bench and they are ready to play. It’s a really hard season and we have to deal with that.

It was built as a battle between two struggling giants after what has been a miserable season for United and Tottenham.

Both teams came into the campaign with lofty ambitions and hopes to push at the top of the Premier League.

In truth, it couldn’t have really gone much worse and ahead of their meeting in north London.

United lay in 14th – 15 points off the top four – while Spurs were two points worse off down in 15th.
