In a rich session attended by all ministries and concerned authorities, the Tourism Committee of the House of Representatives, headed by Representative Noura Ali, held a discussion meeting to discuss the latest developments in planning and developing the tourist area in the Giza Pyramids.

 

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, the Head of the Antiquities Sector, “representatives of the Ministry of Tourism,” and representatives of the Ministry of Public Business Sector, including the Minister’s Advisor for Parliamentary Affairs, and the Managing Director. Executive Director of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, and Executive Managing Director of the Misr Sound and Light Company.

 

Representative Noura Ali said that the project to develop the Pyramids area is one of the major national projects that contribute to improving the economy and increasing… Tourism revenues and improving the quality of services that tourists receive; Which enhances Egypt’s position as a favorite tourist destination for many visitors.

 

She added that this archaeological area is considered the largest and greatest in the world, and therefore completing its development requires special speed in conjunction with operation. The experimental trial of the Grand Museum in preparation for its official opening, in addition to the state’s interest in the region as it is one of the most important tourist, archaeological and cultural destinations at the global level. The world.

 

She continued: “Thus, completing the development of the pyramids area and providing basic services to visitors from entering the pyramids area until the end of the visit ensures that the visitor enjoys every moment in this great destination. It is in line with the state’s vision to achieve 30 million tourists by 2028. Pyramid, saying: “Was it not possible to carry out these works at an earlier date, far from the time when the public or tourists visit the pyramids, with a clear mention of these works to avoid this confusion?”.

 

She wondered about the deadline for development work, what had been done with regard to horses and camels, the spread of street vendors, the problem of restrooms, the development of the area between the Grand Museum and the Pyramids, and the extent to which a company was used to advertise the archaeological sites around. For his part, Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, responded that an extensive investigation is currently being conducted regarding the work that occurred within the walls of the pyramid, and that what happened is an unprecedented mistake. Pointing out that starting the trial operation of the Haram area requires three elements: Including allocating a path for street vendors, providing environmentally friendly cars, moving the current entrance and using the Fayoum entrance. 

 

He continued: “With regard to street vendors, horsemen, and camel owners, it was agreed to A path will be created between the panorama area and the exercise ground. The area will be provided with tables for vendors, and Orascom will contract to provide environmentally friendly cars for operation. “Experimental”.

 

He added: “With regard to the gates to enter and exit the area, everything the police requested for security has been completed, and the security part has been completely completed, and they now have two entrances ready for opening.” Exactly, the old entrance and the modern entrance are on Fayoum Road.

 

At the end of the meeting, and after extensive discussions, the committee issued a number of urgent recommendations. Including:

 Making sure that any restoration work or removal of restoration artifacts is carried out outside the dates of visits, and quickly completing the development of the area and operating it in an integrated manner, and allocating the civilized area to organize the use of stagecoaches, karts, horses, and camels away from the archaeological area.

 

It also recommended establishing unified pricing, specifications, and health, environmental, and technical requirements for both vehicles and animals, and that drivers must wear uniforms. Allocating space for street vendors, coordinating with the Airports Holding Company to allocate promotional material for the Pyramids area on display screens at all airports, and holding courses for all workers in the area to train them on how to deal with tourists.
