Release Date, Trailer, Cast, Plot & More

Call that special ghoul in your life ASAP because Wednesday season two is on her way!

Netflix revealed the cast had started production in Ireland back in May 2024, sharing a video of Thing delivering scripts to cast members. They also launched a TikTok channel to start the rise of “Thing Tok”, which I’m totally vibing with.

Honestly, if Netflix were a mother, Wednesday would be its favourite child due to its record-breaking streaming numbers and popularity with the kiddos — remember that Wednesday dance trend on TikTok?

So far, that’s the most recent info to have come from the spooky woodwork that is Netflix’s Wednesday.

But, here’s everything else we know so far about season two.

What’s the release date of Wednesday Season 2?

Unfortunately, there’s no exact date on when Netflix will be dropping the next instalment of Wednesday. What we do know is that it will come out “sometime in 2025”.

On the plus side we know filming started last year, so it can’t be too far away.

When was Wednesday Season 2 confirmed?

Variety reported that Wednesday season two was a main priority for Netflix following the end of the writers and SAG-AFTRA strike.

Who is in the Wednesday Season 2 cast?

Jenna Ortega is reprising her role as our fave gothic queen Wednesday Addams and will also serve as a producer for the show. Series regulars include Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galph), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago), Steve Buscemi (Barry Dort), Billie Piper (Capri), Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor

New guest stars include Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo

And maybe the biggest surprise announcement is that Lady Gaga will now be joining the cast for a cameo. Gaga gave fans a little bit of a teaser for her involvement in the show and how she got along with Ortega earlier in March 2025. “I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show. I want to keep it extra secret — but, I love Jenna, and I really had an amazing time!” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Jenna also recently gushed about her new co-star to IndieWire: “It’s the best. She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim [Burton], two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much.”

As for Gaga’s character, we don’t know much but Jenna shared with Entertainment Tonight that she’s “not what people expect her to be”.

Naomi J. Owaga (Yoko Tanaka) confirmed on her Instagram in May 2024 that she will not be returning for season two of the show due to “uncertain scheduling and not much progression in Yoko’s journey”.

Will Percy Hynes White feature in Wednesday Season 2?

There have been rumours that Percy Hynes White — who plays Xavier Thorpe — will not be returning for season two amid allegations of sexual assault that involved the actor last year. He was not mentioned on the cast list.

Percy Hynes White has seemingly confirmed he will not be returning for season two as Xavier Thorpe.

He shared the Netflix cast announcement and wrote: “I had so much fun working on this show. I can’t wait to watch Season 2. Much love.”

What is Wednesday Season 2’s plot?

The creators, Al Gough and Miles Millar, are pumped for the new season due to the bunch of new famous faces joining the cast, and how the extra characters will let them play with more storylines.

“We are thrilled that the entire Addams family will be enrolling in Nevermore Academy this season along with a dream cast of icons and new faces,” the creators said.

The first episode is called “Chapter One: Here We Woe Again”, with Tim Burton set to direct.

According to Deadline, the upcoming season will have more focus on the Addams family. It’ll also explore the relationship between Morticia and Wednesday.

“We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles…Catherine [Zeta-Jones] is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important,” said co-showrunner Miles Millar to TV Line in 2022.

Speaking of, Zeta-Jones has teased that season two will be “bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine”, per Netflix.

Ortega has previously mentioned that the new season will also stir away from the lovey-dovey romance stuff and will highlight more horror.

In the Wednesday season two theories video – featuring Ortega, Myers, Doohan and Barclay – it is revealed that another Addams family member will be written into the show. Fingers crossed, it’s Cousin Itt.

I also want a Joan Cusack cameo, PLEASEEEEE.

Wednesday Season 2: Filming location

There’s going to be a huge change in scenery too, as the continuation of the comedy-horror series is being filmed in Ireland. This will be a big switch up from the season one filming location, which was Romania.

It’ll be interesting to see how season two unfolds with the new location. Could it be an Addams family school holiday? Or maybe even some form of school camp/excursion.

Is there a Wednesday Season 2 trailer?

The good folks of Netflix decided to put our waiting period to an end, and dropped a trailer for Wedesday‘s second season just one day before Christmas of 2023. Merry Netflixmas!

If that’s not enough, we’ve also got the cast announcement to tide you over:

That’s all we know so far. But it’s still exciting to imagine, wonder and ponder about season two.
