Rapper Travis Scott has donated $1 million to 100 students at Historic Black Universities and Colleges (HBCUs), ensuring they can graduate without financial hurdles.
The donations are part of Scott’s HEAL project, which was announced in March with a $5 million grant, and potential alumni receive a $10,000 scholarship from the scholarship fund formerly created by Travis.
HEAL was one of Travis’ first public charity events since the tragic Astroworld concert.
A deadly stampede at the Astroworld Festival on November 5, 2021, killed about a dozen people and injured hundreds. In a lawsuit she filed on behalf of 125 festival attendees, the victims demanded $750 million in damages from Scott, Drake and the organizers, and a woman sued the artist for a miscarriage after the festival.
