"Railway" Congratulations to the political leadership, the people and the police on their 73rd anniversary

The General Union Council of Egyptian Railway and Metro Workers today congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of Interior, on the occasion of the 73rd Egyptian Police Day.

The Syndicate Council also congratulated all police leaders. Gentlemen, generals, officers, secretaries, soldiers and individuals. The Syndicate Council also congratulated the distinguished members of the Transport and Communications Police.

This came in a statement issued by the General Syndicate Council today, headed by Abdel Fattah Fikri, which confirmed that Police Day is a commemoration of the Battle of Ismailia in 1952, in which fifty were killed. Eighty Egyptian policemen were killed and wounded at the hands of the British occupation on January 25, 1952, after they refused to hand over Their weapons and evacuating the governorate building for the English occupation. 

Kamel Abdel Maqsoud, Treasurer of the General Union and Vice President of the Egyptian Workers Union, said that the valor of our Egyptian police is priceless, and their sacrifices with their smart blood in order to protect the homeland are a debt on our necks. We, the workers of Egypt, always draw inspiration from their sacrifices, courage and bravery, the spirit of giving and dedication to work, for the sake of the nation’s advancement.

He stressed Mohsen Ezzat, Secretary General of the Syndicate, said that approving the twenty-fifth of January as an official holiday is an appreciation and honor for these brave heroes. This official holiday was approved for the first time, by a decision of former Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, considering this day an official holiday for the government and the Egyptian public sector. In appreciation of the efforts of the Egyptian policemen in maintaining security, safety, and stability of the nation, and in recognition of their sacrifices for that.
