Rahma Khaled: Radio is my childhood dream… and “8 in the Morning” is the beginning of changing society’s view of people of determination

“Rahma Khaled”.. a distinguished young broadcaster with special abilities. She began her work at DMC   in 2018, after graduating and obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hotels, Department of Tourism Studies, as she is a role model for people of determination in moving towards achieving their dreams and successes. Especially since she overcame all the difficulties with her many talents, and became a world champion in swimming and table tennis. She represented Egypt in a number of international conferences.

Rahma Khaled, since she was 8 years old, won the Republic Championship in swimming, and the first international championship she traveled to was in 2010 in Syria, and she won more than 230 medals. 14 of them are international, and she represented Egypt in Lebanon by participating in the Youth and Schools Conference as an official spokesperson for people with disabilities, and in Korea she participated in a global conference in 2012, and in Amman. In the Ground Tennis Championship in 2012, France in the Table Tennis Championship in 2022, and Turkey in the World Table Tennis Championship in 2024, she also participated in tournaments in Abu Dhabi, Italy and America.

“Rosal Youssef” She met the presenter, “Rahma Khaled”, and interviewed her to reveal to us more details, behind the scenes, and the journey of success that she achieves with all determination and resolve.

■ Beginning… Tell us about your childhood dream?

– I wished to become I have been a broadcaster since I was 14 years old, and I fulfilled my dream by participating in the “8 in the Morning” program. On the DMC channel, I am keen during the program to change society’s view of us as people with disabilities, and to view us in a positive light and that people with disabilities can do many things for their society. Rather, they have the ability to participate in various fields, as well as learning and playing sports, so that we can be an important part of society. So I continue to change some people’s view of us to assure them that we are capable.

■ Here is a funny video with Yousra singing together.. What’s behind the scenes?

– My first meeting in the program He was with the artist Yousra. When she learned that I had become a broadcaster, she very much welcomed the meeting and was supportive of me. She is a very humble person and encouraged me and gave me positive energy and self-confidence. She confirmed that I could continue in the program, and I actually succeeded in conducting many other meetings during the program, including with the artist Laila Elwi. And Mohamed Henedy, Hamada Hilal, Ahmed Fahmy, and others.

■ Are you thinking about breaking into the world? Acting?

– Yes.. I hope to enter the world of acting, and I very much love the artist Yasmine Abdel Aziz and the artist Ahmed Helmy, and “I myself act with them,” especially since their films are all special and wonderful.

■ What topics do you hope to present in your program?

– There are different topics, but I like hosting successful and honorable models with disabilities because this will raise awareness among viewers, especially families who have people with disabilities. People of determination, to be the starting point for them towards developing their children and motivating them to achieve their dreams and wishes.

■ How did you witness the President’s presence at the Able to Difference celebration?

– President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is like a supportive father to us, rather The spiritual father for all young people with disabilities. He designated the year 2018 as the Year of People with Special Needs, just as he designated 2017 as the Year of Women. This is a wonderful thing, and the President is keen to attend the Qaderoon celebration. It is different every year, and it encourages us, and when we see him present at the celebration, today is a holiday for us.

■ I won world championships in swimming and table tennis.. How is that?

– I started swimming when I was 8 years old, and I continued Until the age of 14, I won national and international championships, and my last world championship was in Italy, where I won third place. However, I quit swimming 3 years ago, and I am now a world champion in table tennis. I traveled to France and got third place there, and I traveled to Turkey and also got the same place, and I will participate in the 2025 World Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Egypt.

■ So… can you balance your media work and sports?

– Certainly, sport is what organized my time and made me organized in everything, and it is something sacred to me on a daily basis.

■ Where is your mother in your life and in all that? Successes?

– My mother’s role is great. She is my friend, my sister, and my whole life. She deserves the title of the ideal mother. Since my birth, she has supported me and worked to develop me until this moment. Whenever she notices a talent in me, she seeks to develop it, and she always helps and encourages me to succeed and develop. You never leave me, come with me during the recording of the program, and travel with me to my sports tournaments, whether swimming or table tennis.
