Racehorse ESCAPES the track and gallops through Scottish town after unseating jockey in incredible footage
A racehorse was filmed galloping through a Scottish town after unseating his rider on Monday afternoon.
Ten-year-old Rufio was competing in the final race of the Virgin Bet Christmas Jumper Raceday in Musselburgh when he unseated his jockey.
Rufio then proceeded to escape the racetrack and raced through a nearby town.
The incredible incident was captured on camera as Rufio was filmed cantering through Prestonpans – a town to the east of Edinburgh – while still wearing his saddle with the race number seven on it.
A spokesman later confirmed that Rufio had been found and returned to the racecourse.
The spokesman said, as quoted by The Telegraph: ‘A horse unseated its rider in the last race and made its way out of the racecourse.

The horse was found and returned to the racecourse, but was earlier filmed racing through the Scottish town of Prestonpans
‘This is an extremely rare occurrence and fortunately the horse was returned unscathed to the racecourse by our ground staff after its short journey towards Prestonpans.’
It was also reported that jockey Lucy Brown was safe and well after being unseated.
A full day of racing is still set to go ahead on Tuesday, with meetings taking place in Southwell, Fontwell and Uttoxeter.
This follows the Chepstow Christmas Party race day and the Boylesports Becher Chase at Aintree being cancelled on Saturday due to severe weather from Storm Darragh.
