Queen Mary of Denmark beams as she joins daughter Princess Josephine at the Hubertus Hunt – following one year anniversary of King Frederik’s ‘affair scandal’

Queen Mary of Denmark looked glamorous today as she attended the Hubertus Hunt in Dyrehaven.

The stylish royal, 52, attended the annual event with her daughter, Princess Josephine, 13, and her friend.

The beaming monarch appeared in good spirits and appeared unfazed following the one-year anniversary of her husband King Frederik’s rumoured affair scandal – on which he enjoyed a hunt of his own in Jutland.

The Hubertus Hunt is an annual cross-country horse race held on the first Sunday of November in Deer Park in Klampenborg, north of Copenhagen.

Dating back to the 1900s, the event marks the end of the Danish hunting season, with 160 hunters on horseback riding over hedges and water features across the park, tackling a 13km route. It attracts some 40,000 spectators.

Queen Mary greeted the winners of the competition, Nils Goldschmidt, and his horse.

The mother-of-four could not hide her excitement, as she beamed while stroking the brunette pony and posed for photos.

Mary was the epitome of equestrian style as she stepped out in a padded charcoal quilted gilet which she layered with a navy longline coat.

She put her best fashion foot forward in a white turtleneck jumper and forest green corduroy trousers, which were flared at the hem, and finished her ensemble with a pair of brown leather boots.

Mary accessorised her look with a grey wide-brimmed hat and a tan-coloured Prada shopper bag.

Princess Josephine took a note out of her mother’s style book, sporting a smart checkered coat, which both Queen Mary and Princess Isabella have worn in the past.

She donned a white jumper, pink scarf, grey hat, and a baggy pair of indigo-blue denim jeans with chocolate brown heeled boots.

The mother-daughter duo usually attend the event together and decided to bring along one of Josephine’s friends this year, who donned a navy puffer coat and a pair of dark blue jeans.

I t was once a real hunt but now the traditional fox and stag have been replaced by a set course for the riders in red jackets and their horses – with two leading riders wearing a fox tail on their shoulders.

Josephine and Mary’s appearance comes as the pair jetted back from Australia yesterday after a surprise visit to the Queen’s homeland.

It is understood she flew home to Hobart last week to attend her niece’s wedding before travelling to Sydney, where she soaked up the sun at some of the city’s most picturesque beaches.

After spending almost a week in her home country, Mary was seen jetting out of Australia with her 13-year-old twins Josephine and Vincent.

Mary last visited Australia in December with her twins to spend Christmas with her family.

Her return to Australia comes 12 months after rumours exploded about her husband King Frederik, 56, having an affair with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova, which have been strenuously denied.

Frederik did not join his wife on her trip to Australia, choosing to stay in Denmark on official business.

However, his decision to stay home has raised the eyebrows of Danish royal fans who have closely watched the couple since the ‘affair’ scandal rocked their relationship.

Cracks began to appear in the pair’s fairytale romance after the then-Crown Prince was photographed on a night out with Ms Casanova in Madrid last October.

Ms Casanova strongly denied any affair with Frederik immediately after pictures of the pair together emerged and has refused to speak on the matter since.

Weeks after the pictures of the now King and Ms Casanova were published, Mary was spotted on another holiday in Sydney without Frederik.
