Prime Minister: Nuclear energy and its peaceful uses play a pivotal role in implementing development goals
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed that nuclear energy and its peaceful uses play a pivotal role in implementing the sustainable development goals, and are considered one of the most important components of providing the energy and water necessary to ensure sustainable development in Egypt. It is also considered one of the basic pillars for achieving environmental sustainability, as it is energy. It is clean, does not generate any carbon emissions, and contributes effectively to overcoming global warming and reducing the phenomenon of climate change, a problem that is currently troubling the entire world.

Mustafa Madbouly, delivered on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the celebration held by the Nuclear Power Plants Authority in the New Administrative Capital; On the occasion of the fourth annual Nuclear Energy Day, in the presence of the Ministers of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Labor, Muhammad Gibran, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Karim Badawi, in addition to Dr. Amjad Al-Wakil, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, and Dr. Hamid Mirah, Chairman of the Nuclear Materials Authority. And a number of former electricity ministers, while from the Russian side, Alexei Zhukov, First Vice President of Atomstroyexport, was present. The ceremony witnessed the screening of a documentary film about the efforts of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority to generate electricity in the field of nuclear energy, especially with regard to the Dabaa Nuclear Power Station project with the Russian side, and then… Presentation of live events of the installation of the reactor core trap for the fourth nuclear unit, which took place earlier today, and completes the installation of the reactor core trap for the four units at the Dabaa nuclear station as the first long-term nuclear equipment installed in units. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister delivered a speech in which he began by conveying the greetings of President Sisi and his appreciation for the efforts made to complete and implement the Egyptian nuclear program, expressing sincere thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic, Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy. For his generous sponsorship of the fourth annual nuclear energy holiday, and for his diligent follow-up and unlimited support given by His Excellency to the Dabaa nuclear power plant project.
The Prime Minister also extended his thanks and appreciation to the Minister Electricity and Renewable Energy for the attention he gives to nuclear energy and its peaceful uses and to all those working in it. He welcomed the audience and extended his sincere congratulations in particular to all those working in the nuclear sector in the country and those in charge of it and to the masses of the great Egyptian people in general.
Madbouly said " Perhaps the energy crisis that the world is currently witnessing confirms the validity of Egypt’s vision and strategy regarding energy and the diversification of its sources, and that its institutions, under the guidance of the wise political leadership, have the ability to extrapolate the future of energy. In the world, in a way that enhances its global position and its regional and international influence, as Egypt’s Vision 2030 gives importance to confronting the effects of climate change through the presence of an integrated and sustainable environmental system that enhances resilience and the ability to confront natural risks.”
He added: “ Egypt’s Vision 2030 also seeks to preserve development and the environment together through the rational use of resources in a way that preserves the rights of future generations in a safer and more sufficient future. This is achieved by confronting the effects of climate change and enhancing the ability of environmental systems to adapt, the ability to confront risks and natural disasters, increase reliance on renewable energy, and adopt sustainable consumption and production patterns.”
He continued: “Based on the above, nuclear energy and its peaceful uses play a pivotal role in implementing Sustainable development goals, which are considered one of the most important components of providing the energy and water necessary to ensure sustainable development in Egypt. Madbouly explained that the Dabaa nuclear power plant project lies at the heart of the three dimensions of sustainable development. Starting from the quality of life of the citizen, and ending with the state achieving a leading position, he noted that the Dabaa nuclear station, in addition to being an electricity generation project, is the basis for achieving the state’s vision for sustainable development, its goals and its various dimensions.
