Preparing a memorandum of understanding in the field of water resources management and training between Egypt and Somalia
Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, received Mohamed Ibrahim Ali, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Somalia, as part of the activities of the Seventh Cairo Water Week and the Ninth African Water Week.
During the meeting, procedures for preparing a memorandum of understanding in the field of water resources management, training, and capacity building between Egypt and Somalia were discussed, which will focus on multiple aspects, including providing technical support in the areas of improving the water management process, and technical support in the field of warning. Early drought and flood by predicting the amounts and locations of rainfall, through digital weather prediction models, rainwater harvesting projects, conducting hydrological studies, valley surveying, and training and capacity building in the areas of water resources management.

Sweilem invited the State of Somalia to nominate a number of specialists in the field of water to participate in the training courses offered by the African Training Center for Water and Climate Adaptation PACWA, which was established under the umbrella of the AWARe initiative.
