His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, Patriarch of the See of Mark, received today, Wednesday, a delegation of ambassadors from Latin American countries, which included the ambassadors of countries (Venezuela, Chile, Peru, and Cuba), and the Chargé d’Affairs of the Guatemalan Embassy, in the presence of His Eminence Bishop Youssef, Bishop Bolivia.
His Holiness Pope Tawadros gave an overview of the history of the Coptic Church, explaining that the Coptic Church is a traditional and sacramental church, and that monasticism was founded in Egypt, where Saint Anthony the Great was the first monk in the world, and from there monasticism spread to all parts of the world. He also talked about the prayers of Coptic monasteries to protect the homeland.
He pointed out that there are about 15 million Coptic Christians inside Egypt, in addition to about two million others spread in different countries around the world, including (Bolivia, Brazil, America, Asia, Australia, and Europe).
For his part, the Venezuelan ambassador praised the ancient history of the Coptic Church and its role in spreading the values of love and peace, expressing his happiness at the meeting that brought together His Holiness Pope Tawadros and His Holiness Pope Francis, where they agreed For spreading peace, noting that His Eminence Bishop Youssef continues this work in Bolivia by providing various social services.
The Peruvian ambassador also thanked His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, noting that this meeting comes on the day of the end of his term of service. In Egypt, he stressed that upon his return to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Peru, he will work to support the Coptic Church and facilitate all requests and papers required to establish the Coptic Church in Peru. He noted that Saint Mark the Apostle is a prominent figure in Peru, as the oldest university in the country bears the name “St. Mark.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II thanked the delegation, saying: “Man is a creation of God’s hand, so when we deal with any human being, we are dealing with God himself. We always seek peace, and our country It works on this principle. Despite the many conflicts around us, Egypt seeks to make peace and end conflicts through diplomatic and political efforts.”
His Holiness the Pope concluded his speech by saying, “Since the entry of the Holy Family into the land of Egypt Our country has become a country of peace and security, and we maintain this peace through mutual love among all segments of the Egyptian people.
