Pope Tawadros II witnessed, today, Friday, the celebration of the Mother of Mercy Service Family on the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Service (1984 – 2024).
It was founded in 1948 by a young 12-year-old boy, Majed Kamel Suleiman. When he was young, he was interested in serving the marginalized, the sick, the elderly, male and female, and the deaf and mute, and who later became the departed Father Bishoy Kamel, the founder and patron of the service, who was ordained by the departed His Holiness Pope Shenouda III on March 23, 2001, for this service in Alexandria. p>
The celebration was held at St. Peter Conference House in Burj Al Arab, affiliated with the Church of Saints Mark, and Pope Peter is the Seal of the Martyrs in Alexandria, in the presence of Their Eminences Bishop Pavelli, General Bishop of the Montazah Sector Churches, Bishop Ilarion, General Bishop of the Churches of the Western Alexandria Sector, and Bishop Hermina, General Bishop of the Churches of the Montazah Sector. The celebration included many speeches by Their Eminences Bishop Pavel, Bishop Ilarion, and Bishop Hermina, who welcomed His Holiness the Pope, praising his care for all his children with special needs and physical disabilities.
In addition to a speech by Pastor Ishaq Wadih Responsible Currently serving, and who completed the journey after he resigned, Reverend Bishoy Kamel. Father Antonius Fahmy and Father Abram Emil delivered speeches in which they conveyed the feelings of love of the people of Alexandria for His Holiness the Pope.
The celebration also included several segments, including a short film chronicling the history of the service, its development, and its expansion until It included 21 service families.
A bouquet of hymns and performances in sign language presented by deaf and dumb service workers and people with special needs at all age levels, and a theatrical presentation of the story of “Daniel.” Provided by the family of Pope Cyril for people with special needs.
In his speech, His Holiness the Pope praised all the distinguished ceremony items, their presenters, and all the servants and services, and expressed his great joy at the service and the successes it achieved.
