Always put your best foot forward – but maybe think about how it will impact the people around you.
A Singapore Airlines passenger sparked a heated debate about when it is appropriate to confront someone on board a plane after he was seated next to a ‘rude’ fellow traveler.
In a post to Reddit on the Singapore Airlines thread, the disgruntled passenger shared a picture of their seatmate with one leg crossed over the other knee.
While that alone is arguably not a reason to complain, it was the man’s decision to remove his shoes and socks – leaving his bare feet exposed to fellow passengers.
‘Just wondering, if a passenger is rude next to you, like this example here. Can I request to change seats or get him to put on his stupid shoes?’ they asked.
‘He was like [this] throughout the flight except for meal times at which he kept asking for whiskey and only after confirming that it was a Johnny Walker red label,’ the passenger continued.
‘Why did I have to put next to this heathen?’ they complained.
In a further comment, the irate passenger clarified the man’s foot was touching their seat panel.

They added the man – who appeared to be in his 30s – was also fairly intoxicated during the flight.
‘He seemed partially drunk. I mean, I just wanted no drama if possible,’ they wrote, adding: ‘I feel like I shouldn’t even have to ask [him to move his foot] because it’s basic human decency to behave in a public setting.’
‘Maybe it’s also because I’ve been too exposed to such behavior on flights that I’m not longer surprised or shocked anymore. Just… sad and tired,’ they concluded added.
Many Reddit users were appalled by the encounter.
‘What happens if a little coffee was to spill on this foot,’ one user joked.
‘Omg I swear there are so many disgusting people in this world that I feel like I have to pay four times the price to sit business so that I can avoid this kind of situation,’ someone else wrote.
Some users argued that asking nicely could have changed the outcome.
‘Ask him nicely. Then ask the crew nicely. Nothing else you can do,’ one user wrote. ‘Given that this person is not hogging the entire armrest and deliberately leaving some wriggle room for OP to use the armrest too. I have a slight feeling that asking them nicely might have helped.’
‘Did you think about politely mentioning to him how you are put off by it and ask him to put footwear on or keep his feet away from you?’ questioned someone else.

Gross acts are not only limited to the aircraft. Earlier in the year, a disgusted passenger was horrified to find someone completing some personal grooming whilst waiting for his flight by clipping his toenails in the lounge.
A photo of the act was captured and posed to Reddit, showing the gentleman in question with his slides on the floor while resting his foot on the airport seating to cut his nails.
‘Bleach my eyes,’ the Reddit user declared.
Users were both horrified and amused by the picture, sharing their thoughts online.
‘I mean to be fair when he puts his feet up into the section in front of him he wants them to look good,’ one user joked.
‘My unfiltered mouth would have stated in an elevated voice, ‘THAT IS SO GROSS, DUDE!’ but then I’d regret it being so loud,’ claimed one flyer.
‘Saw someone do that on the plane once. I almost opened the emergency door and ejected them but I wanted to arrive safely at my destination,’ shared another.
